Rangers team news ‘massive boost’ as Michael Beale confirms double update for clash v Hibernian – pundit
We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
It’s a “massive boost” for Rangers to have Connor Goldson and Ben Davies close to returning from injury, according to Tam McManus.
As quoted by the Scottish Sun on Wednesday (14 December), Michael Beale confirmed that the two centre-backs have trained this week and while they’re not 100 per cent ready yet, they could be involved against Hibernian on Thursday (15 December).
The Light Blues have had numerous injury issues this season and there’s no doubt that Goldson’s woes played a role in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s demise as manager at Ibrox.

However, the 29-year-old – as well as 27-year-old Davies – are now on the comeback trail and that can only be good new for the Gers, in the eyes of McManus.
“It’s a massive boost,” McManus told Ibrox News. “They’ve missed Goldson badly.
“He’s a leader at the back, he’s an experienced player and he’s an automatic starter when he’s fit.
“And with Davies, Rangers spent a lot of money signing him from Liverpool and he’s come up with a big reputation.

“He’s had injury niggles so hasn’t really had a good run of games in the team but he gives a bit of balance as he’s left-sided.
“He and Goldson will be a decent pair.
“[Filip] Helander looks like he’ll be out of the rest of the season so those pair will give you a big boost because Rangers started with [Leon] King and [James] Sands at the back on Saturday and I wouldn’t be so sure about that back two.
“I think if they can get two proper centre-halves in there, it’ll be a massive boost for Rangers.”
In other Rangers news, an out-of-court agreement could be reached for the Gers as documents have been submitted.
