Alfredo Morelos to reach ‘bitter end’ at Rangers, tinge of regret – Chris Jack
Alfredo Morelos sees his Rangers contract expire this summer, and The Herald‘s Chris Jack believes it paints a bitter end to his time at Ibrox.
Morelos has been a Rangers star ever since he joined the club in 2017. The hot-headed Colombian has become the club’s record goalscorer in European competition and was a major part of the Premiership-winning campaign under Steven Gerrard.
But instead of going out on a high, it seems Morelos’ time at Ibrox is set to end with a whimper after his issues with attitude and fitness this season.

If Morelos does depart on a free transfer this summer, journalist Jack believes it will be a “bitter” departure for the 26-year-old.
“Morelos heading out the Ibrox exit door on a free transfer would be a bitter end in financial terms for Rangers. In a solely sporting sense, there would be more than a tinge of regret as well,” Jack wrote via The Herald.
“There have been few players that have done the rounds on the rumour mill and been touted for a move quite like Morelos. The coming weeks will finally determine if that moment is going to arrive sooner or later.”
Shambles
This whole contract saga has painted neither the club nor Morelos in a good light.
Morelos’ attitude and performances this season have been well below par, and on current form, it’d be hard to argue that he deserves a new deal.

But the entirety of Ibrox knows what he can do on his day, and it’s amazing that the club let his contract run this far.
He should’ve been tied down to a new deal ages ago and now the club are set to pay the price by losing one of their most valuable assets for free.
It shows how incompetent the Rangers board have been when it comes to handling the players, and to make matters worse Ryan Kent also looks to be leaving for free when his deal expires in the summer.
Their sales could have funded an entire rebuild for Michael Beale, but instead, the new Gers boss will likely going to have to work with a shoestring budget to turn things around at the club.
