Rangers to undergo Celtic-esque transformation after Michael Beale admission about players – pundit
We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
According to Tam McManus, Rangers are set to play more similarly to Celtic with Michael Beale as their manager.
Rangers beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in a friendly match at Ibrox at the weekend but after the game, the new Gers boss admitted that his players were not fit enough [Scottish Sun].
McManus believes Beale said that because he wants to see the Light Blues return to a more intense style of play that they employed under Steven Gerrard’s leadership and is also more similar to Old Firm rivals Celtic.

McManus also suggests that Beale will give opportunities to youngsters and fringe players that Giovanni van Bronckhorst wasn’t giving prior to his dismissal with Leon King, Alfie Devine and Glen Kamara all starting against Leverkusen.
“When you look at the team, King, Devine and Kamara came in as well, who’s not been playing,” McManus told Ibrox News.
“Beale might have a different outlook on this team. And also, it was interesting after the game that he thought the Rangers starters weren’t fit enough.
“He’s going to play a much higher tempo and a higher press than van Bronckhorst so you’ve got to be fit.
“ If you look across the city at Celtic, they play that way. With the five subs, you can do that because people tire after an hour and you can bring fresh legs on.

“Five subs lends to Celtic’s high press and high tempo, especially in the Scottish Premiership where there’s a huge advantage over other teams and you have a squad packed with quality and internationals who can come.
“We’re definitely going to see a different style of play from Rangers. They’re going to go back to more Steven Gerrard where the team would press.”
In other Rangers news, an out-of-court agreement could be reached for the Gers as documents have been submitted.
