Rangers contract news as retained players to hit double figures at Ibrox
Rangers are set to retain multiple young talents from their youth squad this season, with the handing out of professional contracts set to hit double figures, according to The Athletic.
Cammy Scott, Chris Eadie, Callum Anderson and Lewis Stewart are all said to be in contention for receiving professional contracts with Rangers.
Jordan Campbell of The Athletic confessed that Rangers will retain more than “double figures” from this year’s 2007 squad when it comes to dishing out professional deals.

“The best talents attract suitors as they become eligible for a professional deal at the age of 16 but in the last two years, Rangers have only handed pro contracts to five players from two age groups and had to recruit the majority of a new squad for this season’s under-18s,” said Campbell as quoted by The Athletic.
“This time they will only have to supplement the core group, though, as it is understood Rangers will retain more than double figures from this year’s 2007 squad when it comes to giving out professional deals.
“Two of the leading lights in that side have been left-back Cammy Scott and striker Chris Eadie, the former of whom has been moved up to play with the under-18s on occasion this season. Midfielders Callum Adamson and Lewis Stewart may not be as physically matured but they are also considered ones to watch.”

The youth.
It’s been a solid week so far for the youth of Rangers, following this news, 18-year-old Leon King was reported to be close to signing a new and improved contract with the club [Fabrizio Romano].
King himself comes from the Gers youth ranks and is flying the flag for them in first-team action this season, putting in some impressive displays.
The 18-year-old has made 11 league appearances and played in all six Champions League games this campaign, albeit a tragic and forgettable European run.
It’s not been an easy start for King, who was thrust into action due to an injury crisis within the Rangers squad, but this ordeal will serve him well for future campaigns and fixtures.
King can be the face of the youth academy now though and shows that young talents can make it into Rangers first-team squad if they are good enough to do so.
Promoting academy players and getting them to a solid standard must be the aim of Rangers business model moving forward, it will provide the club with sizeable selling fees to reinvest back into their squad.
