Chris Sutton aims sly dig at Rangers ahead of Argentina v Croatia

Chris Sutton has aimed a sly dig at Rangers ahead of Argentina’s World Cup semi-final clash against Croatia on Tuesday (13 December).

The Bears shared a tweet showing their full support for left-back Borna Barisic who is playing for Croatia.

Barisic is starting from the bench, though, and Sutton suggested watching Celtic defender Josip Juranovic instead, who is starting at right-back.

“You can enjoy watching Juranovic though from the start as Barisic is on the bench,” wrote Sutton on Twitter.

Barisic didn’t get enough opportunities in the World Cup, but he did play an important role in the win over Japan in the round of 16.

Zlatko Dalić has mainly used Borna Sosa in the left-back role and he has been really brilliant throughout the campaign.

Barisic, however, could be required if there’s any injury or if the manager feels the need for a tactical change.

It will be a great achievement for the 30-year-old if he can return to the club winning a World-cup medal.

During the summer, Barisic was linked with a move away from Ibrox, but he stayed on eventually.

It was feared that the Croatian defender would struggle for game time after Rangers signed Ridvan Yilmaz. But, Barisic did manage 15 appearances in the league, and six appearances in the Champions League this season.

It will be interesting to see how Barisic fares under Michael Beale. But most importantly, let’s hope he can play a part for Croatia tonight and help his country reach the final.

In other Rangers news, an out-of-court agreement could be reached for the Gers as documents have been submitted.
