Rangers to sign replacements for Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos in January – Sir Kenny Dalglish

Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are out of contract in the summer and Sir Kenny Dalglish has tipped Michael Beale to replace them at Rangers in January.

With both Rangers stars now set to leave in the summer, Dalglish has tipped Beale to use his “excellent contacts” to find suitable replacements in January.

Via his Sunday Post column (11 December, back page), Dalglish wrote: “Many players have been linked with Rangers in the past few days. I’m not privy to the dynamics of how transfers work at Ibrox between the director of football, Ross Wilson, and the manager.

“But I do know that Michael has excellent contacts in the game and he’ll be able to identify some really good talent.

“They may well be looking to replace Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos next month, as it appears the club’s contract offer has been rejected by the players.”

The incompetence of the Rangers board is set to deal another blow to the club. If Kent and Morelos were handled properly and given suitable contract extensions before it got to this then there would be much less worry.

Gers will obviously miss both Kent and Morelos on the field if they do depart Ibrox, and the club are set to feel the off-field impact too with both leaving without bringing in a single penny in transfer fees.

Considering they are probably the two highest-value players in the Rangers squad, this contract chaos is absolutely inexcusable.

Beale will now have a shoestring budget provided to him to replace two of the club’s biggest stars in a transfer window midway through a season.

That’s an impossible task for any manager, regardless of their “excellent contacts”. The only way for Rangers to recover from their huge contract blunder is to provide Beale with a bigger budget or convince both Kent and Morelos to sign a new deal. Neither seem likely.
