Ridvan Yilmaz agent reveals desire from player’s camp as Rangers future in doubt

Ridvan Yilmaz is not interested in leaving Rangers after just five months at Ibrox despite clubs in Turkey keen on a transfer in January.

That’s according to his agent, Necdet Ergezen, who has moved to quash any rumours that his 21-year-old client would be returning to his homeland in the January window.

Trabzonspor [Fanatik, 14 October] and Galatasaray [Takvim, 9 October] have both expressed an interest in the Turkish international who has spent much of the season so far out injured.

“It should not be forgotten that Rıdvan’s transfer process was not very easy this summer,” Ergezen said to Fanatik. “This is a project. We stand behind this, both me and the player.

“We don’t want to return Rıdvan to Turkey after 5 months. We didn’t take it to Europe for it.”

Patience

The footballing world does tend to move very quickly but it never moves so fast that a player being injured for the most part of six months ruins his career at a club.

Yilmaz was very unfortunate to have to miss out on a lot of games and with Giovanni van Bronckhorst choosing not to drop Borna Barisic when he was fit, he was never going to make much of an impact.

But not every new signing has to be the best thing since sliced bread immediately and it should be recognised at Auchenhowie that the 21-year-old will take a little more time to adjust.

He did show glimpses of excellence on the rare occasion he played but the last thing he needs right now is to give up in Glasgow and return to home comforts in Turkey.

Yilmaz appears more ambitious than that and he won’t want to admit failure anytime soon when he has a long time left on his contract.

In other Rangers news, the Light Blues want to sign a teenage sensation from another Scottish club who are “powerless” to stop it from happening.
