Rangers wonder Robbie Fraser set for huge chance to impress v Bayer Leverkusen

Rangers wonder Robbie Fraser could be in line to start for Rangers in the club’s friendly against Bayer Leverkusen on 10 December.

Two senior left-backs in the shape of Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz are out of the fixture, leaving Michael Beale with few options to fill their shoes.

Now, Football Scotland believes that could bring the “talented” Rangers B team wonder into the fold after impressive performances for them this campaign.

“The Rangers B team captain could be afforded a huge opportunity on Saturday. The Ibrox side have two senior left backs in the shape of Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz, yet neither are available,” said Football Scotland.

“That could bring Fraser into the first team after his impressive performances for the B team. He’s been on the bench a few times now, however he’s not yet managed to make his bow and he’ll be hoping to get a bit of game time at Ibrox.”

Exciting.

What an exciting time to be Fraser, the youngster now has the chance to impress new head coach Beale and cement his abilities onto the mind of the Englishman.

It’s always nice to see youth players get to play in the first team and hopefully, this will be the start of a special Ibrox journey for Fraser.

The absence of Barisic and Yilmaz may leave the door open for more appearances too, it’s unclear when Barisic will return from the FIFA World Cup and Yilmaz’s injury problems continue to persist.

Fraser is your stereotypical modern-day full-back who loves to bomb forward and attack, something fans and Beale will absolutely love.

He actually has a very similar playing style to the now departed Rangers defender Nathan Patterson, with luck, he can follow in the Scotland international’s footsteps.

This is a massive opportunity for the wonder and if he has an impressive outing, Beale may turn to him on more occasions in 2023.

In other Rangers news, this prolific goalscorer is “excited” by speculation linking him with a move to Ibrox in January.
