Rangers tipped to sign Joel Nouble for £1m from Livingston, pundit suggests Aberdeen transfer on the cards

We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…

Tam McManus fails to see how Joel Nouble is good enough to play for Rangers after David Martindale claimed the Livingston forward is capable of a move to Ibrox.

Nouble, 26, has scored three goals in 15 Scottish Premiership appearances this season with two of them coming against the Light Blues both at Almondvale and at Ibrox.

Speaking Open Goal, as relayed by Scottish Daily Mail (1 December, page 74), Livingston boss Martindale said Nouble “could go and play right now for Rangers as a winger“.

Martindale is also said to be convinced Nouble is worth £1million.

McManus isn’t convinced Nouble is good enough for the Light Blues though.

He believes that the London-born attacker, who can play as a left-winger or a striker, would be more suited to a team like Hibernian or Aberdeen.

Speaking to Ibrox News, McManus said: “Nouble’s done well for Livingston but I’m not so sure he can step up to Rangers.

He’s come in, he’s a big, strong and powerful striker. He’s done well at Livingston but I don’t think that at this moment in time that’s a move for him.

I think he’d go to Hibs or Aberdeen or somewhere in between before making a move to Rangers.

Rangers will be searching Europe for top players, particularly strikers.

I don’t think Nouble is good enough, to be honest.”

Nouble joined Livingston in July 2021 and spent last season on loan at Arbroath in the Scottish Championship.

He’s previously played for Dagenham & Redbridge, Concord Rangers and Aldershot Town in England.

In other Rangers news, this prolific goalscorer is “excited” by speculation linking him with a move to Ibrox in January.
