Pundit details ‘change’ in Ibrox boardroom despite Douglas Park Rangers re-election
Tam McManus has suggested there could still be change in the Rangers boardroom despite Douglas Park remaining as the club’s chairman.
Park was re-elected on Tuesday morning at the Annual General Meeting (Scottish Daily Express, 6 December) despite an attempt from former chairman Dave King and Club 1972 to block his re-appointment.
However, McManus still feels change could be afoot despite King and Club 1872’s failed attempt to remove Park from the boardroom at Ibrox.

“Douglas Park obviously stays, but there’s David King and a few of the supporters’ branches which are concerned by his running of the club so you might see a change there in the next couple of years,” said McManus (PLZ Football Show, 49:48, 7 December).
“Rangers need investment, they need money coming into the club, they’re on a sound footing financially, the club’s going forward but they still need money involved.”
Move on
For the moment, it’s clear there won’t be any change at boardroom level for Rangers and after the AGM, and the appointment of Michael Beale, there will be hope that the resumption of the Scottish Premiership will be a fresh start.
Tough questions were asked and the board have been held to account. Shareholders have heard responses, and it’s now time for the club to really start progressing on the pitch. The start of the campaign under Giovanni van Bronckhorst has cast a dark cloud over Ibrox, and it’s now up to Beale to pick up the pieces and try and close the gap to Celtic.

It’s somewhat of a free pass for the for Queen’s Park Rangers boss, with there being little expectation for him to steer Rangers to another title win. This season looks hard to salvage for Rangers, with there now potentially being an eye on the 2023/24 campaign and ensuring the squad is primed to mount a serious title challenge.
In other Rangers news, a first January arrival is being lined up for Beale with discussions already begun.
