Andy Walker slams Alfredo Morelos over behind-the-scenes Rangers situation
Andy Walker pulled no punches as he discussed Alfredo Morelos’ contract situation at Rangers, claiming he’s not acted as professionally as Ryan Kent.
Both Morelos and Kent have been in the headlines this week after their contract situations were discussed at the club’s AGM on Tuesday. The contracts of both players expire in the summer and neither have signed a new deal at Ibrox, despite club chairman Douglas Park claiming that the club are keen to keep them in Glasgow.
“The board have tried to negotiate with both players,” said Park, as quoted by The Scotsman. “There comes a stage in any negotiation you try to settle. If the terms that maybe people are looking for are unattainable you sometimes have to accept you have done your best.”

Park’s damning review of the contract negotiations has caused a flurry of rumours suggesting both players could leave the club in the summer.
Should that happen, Walker believes Kent can hold his head higher than Morelos due to his behaviour in what may be his final season at the club.
Speaking via the Go Radio Football Show (7 Dec, 8:45), Walker said: “I think Ryan Kent is honouring it a bit better than Alfredo Morelos because he’s fit and he’s well. He’s always available for selection.
“I think Alfredo Morelos has let himself down as well as Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his teammates – he wasn’t in good shape for much of the season, wasn’t ready for the start of the season.”
Sour ending
If Morelos does choose to leave Rangers in the summer, it will be a disappointing way for him to end his five-year stay at the club.
The Colombian striker has provided so many brilliant moments for Gers since joining the club back in 2017, and it only seems fitting that he departs on a high.

This season has certainly not been that. The nightmarish Champions League campaign, Van Bronckhorst’s sacking and the huge gulf to Celtic has stained the season with disappointment.
As Walker implies, Morelos has somewhat downed tools this season and he doesn’t look like caring. His fitness levels have been atrocious, his performances have lacked his usual levels of passion and his scoring output has been abysmal.
Hopefully Michael Beale’s appointment brings the best out of him again and Morelos extends his stay at Ibrox – if not his legacy in Glasgow will be bruised.
