Andy Walker blown away by ‘remarkable’ stat revealed in Rangers AGM
Rangers revealed during Tuesday’s AGM that this was the first time in 10 years that the club could fund their day-to-day bills.
The Rangers board faced a grilling from club shareholders on Tuesday as chairman Douglas Park and sporting director Ross Wilson came under fire for the club’s poor season.
A number of talking points were discussed including the Champions League campaign, transfer business, contract negotiations and the club’s overall financial situation.

It was the latter that stood out to Andy Walker, who was stunned by one “remarkable” headline in particular.
Via the Go Football Radio Show (7 Dec, 9:12), Walker said: “The headline I took from the Rangers AGM was that for the first time in 10 years, Rangers could access the finance that it requires to meet day-to-day bills.
“For the first time in 10 years. I thought that was a remarkable line.”
Huge progress
While much of Tuesday’s AGM was obviously focused on the last 12 months, it’s important to take a step back and appreciate the revival of Rangers in the last decade.
This year marked the 10th anniversary of the disastrous 2012 administration, and while the season itself was marred with a terrible Champions League record, a managerial sacking and some questionable transfer business, it still shows just how far the club have come.

Considering Rangers were at rock bottom this time 10 years ago, to even be discussing Champions League football shows the excellent comeback from the club.
The money spent under Giovanni van Bronckhorst was questionable after reaching a major European final last season, but the latest reports show that the club is finally comfortable and finally able to pay their day-to-day bills on a consistent basis.
With the financial foundations now starting to take shape, hopefully Rangers can push on under Michael Beale and return to the top of Scottish football once again.
In other Rangers news, the club have hit their head on the Scottish glass ceiling despite revenues of £86.8million.
