Spotted: Ross Wilson made to squirm at Rangers AGM as brutal question aimed at Ibrox chief

Ross Wilson was seen squirming in his seat at the Rangers AGM on Tuesday (6 December) as his position as director of football came under scrutiny.

Among a large number of topics after a hectic few weeks at Ibrox, Wilson’s recruitment during his time at the club came under fire with one person ripping into him.

DIGB on Twitter shared a video of the brutal question with Wilson evidently uneasy in his seat while Michael Beale sat perfectly still beside him.

“You replied to Alan Harris that you missed out on the success stories in your time, when you look at the players signed during your tenure we’ve had very few successes,” the question-asker said.

“We’ve spent £2million on Juninho Bacuna, Aaron Ramsey was reported to be on £780,000-£3million, Zukowski was signed for £500,000 and played one game, Diallo came up from Man United, failure, we’ve now signed Rabbi Matondo for £3million and he’s not hit the ground running.

“Did you actually sign that centre-half from Hearts when he’s missed 44 games in the past two seasons? That player was never going to be able to cope with the demand. This question is to the board: Does the board fully believe that Ross Wilson is the man to develop this playing squad?”

New ideas

After so many underwhelming signings in the past few years, the board have to be considering a change at the top even if they could not admit it in front of Wilson and the packed AGM.

Rangers

Giovanni van Bronckhorst can’t have wanted to sign no Dutch players when he took the job from Steven Gerrard and maybe, if he had his way, he would still be in the job with better results if he was able to do so.

Beale will not have any interest in being overruled by Wilson on the transfer front because he knows what he wants in every position and he will go after it wherever he can.

Stewart Robertson and the rest of the Rangers board have to make a move soon with the January window fast approaching but more importantly, they need a new person in the role when the summer rolls around so they can set about becoming the dominant side in Scottish football.

In other Rangers news, Robertson was forced to interrupt one question at the AGM as the Scottish National Party came under fire.
