Rangers to cut losses on multi-million Glen Kamara as midfielder asks to leave Ibrox – pundit
We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Tam McManus has told Rangers to “cut their losses” and sell Glen Kamara in January amid rumours the midfielder wants to quit Ibrox.
Italian news outlet Tutto Salernitana reported on 3 December that Kamara, 27, has asked the Gers to sell him in the upcoming transfer window amid interest from Europe.
Serie A clubs Salernitana and Monza are said to be interested in the Finland international while there are also clubs in Spain and France who are hot on his heels.

Kamara’s contract at Rangers doesn’t expire until 2025 but McManus believes that if the Finnish midfielder doesn’t want to be at Ibrox any longer, the 2021/22 Europa League runners-up should cash in on him as soon as possible as they could still make a decent profit.
“If he doesn’t want to be there then you’ve obviously got to let him go,” McManus told Ibrox News.
“Under Steven Gerrard, he was outstanding, £50,000 he cost them from Dundee, but he’s just not had the same impact since Gerrard left.
“With Michael Beale coming in, there could be a bit of an injection of something for him. If he kicks on, we don’t know.
“But he doesn’t want to be there then they should let him go.
“He’s been disappointing this season, he’s not been in the team and not been playing games.
“It’ll be up to Rangers but he could be one they get decent money for and I still think they will get a few million for him.
“They need to cut their losses and let him go.”

Kamara has played 16 times in all competition for Rangers this season.
While he has had some injury issues, Giovanni van Bronckhorst only started him three times in the Scottish Premiership with his longest league appearance lasting just over an hour against Livingston on the opening day in July.
An ankle injury has been hampering Kamara but he’s been fit enough to play way more than he has for the Gers.
In other Rangers news, this prolific goalscorer is “excited” by speculation linking him with a move to Ibrox in January.
