Rangers in for further Douglas Park turmoil as resolution sees him keep Ibrox role

Douglas Park is set to keep his role as Rangers chairman after a resolution was passed at the club’s AGM on Tuesday (6 December).

Club 1872, a major shareholder of the football club and supporter group, had been loud in their opposition of Park remaining in his role at Ibrox with former chairman Dave King also joining the opposition.

But among the eight resolutions needing an answer at the AGM, this one was passed to allow Park to keep his spot on the club’s board.

“The Board of Rangers International Football Club PLC is pleased to confirm that all resolutions presented at today’s Annual General Meeting were approved by shareholder vote,” A Rangers statement read, as quoted by The Sun.

“This successful outcome will assist the club with its ambitious investment plans, on and off the field of play. Full details of the shareholder vote shall follow.”

While some continuity might not harm Rangers in the short term, Park’s persistence to keep his role as the club’s chairman could easily cause further turmoil on and off the pitch.

He and Stewart Robertson have remained adamant that Ross Wilson can do his job adequately as director of football despite all of the obvious evidence to the contrary.

Add to that the whole Cinch row that has gone on for ages simply because Park has a rivalling car company and there is more mess than any club requires on your plate.

Finding a new chairman might not have been the simplest of tasks and with a change in first-team manager too, perhaps this was not the best time for it but Park can’t keep that seat warm for too much longer if the Light Blues want to keep up with Celtic.

In other Rangers news, Wilson was made to squirm during the AGM as one person scolds his work at Ibrox in a minute-long rant.
