Journalist shares what he has heard about Ryan Porteous joining Rangers rumours
Hibernian defender Ryan Porteous could join Rangers, but the Scottish club would rather sell him to an English club, as reported by Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist has shared that he has “heard a rumour” of Porteous being wanted by Rangers while answering a question on Twitter [7 December].
The 23-year-old defender has refused to sign a new deal at the club, and he would be available on a free transfer next summer.

“Heard a rumour along those lines…think Hibs would rather sell down south if he’s off,” wrote Nixon.
Good move?
Clyde boss Jim Duffy suggested on Clyde Super Scoreboard [6 December] that Porteous is going to join Rangers in the January transfer window.
Porteous is a quality defender who has progressed through the youth ranks at Hibernian.
Since 2017, he has made over 145 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals.
Hibs confirmed on 26 November Porteous will not sign a new contract with the club. It is not clear whether the Bears retain a strong interest in him, but given his contract situation, he could be a player of interest to the Glasgow giants.
Do the Bears need to sign a new defender in January?

The defence is one area that needs bolstering in January. The club lost a key defender in Calvin Bassey who joined Ajax in the summer and more quality is probably needed in that department.
The likes of John Souttar and Ben Davies have yet to deliver for the club, while Connor Goldson’s injury has left a huge void in the side. The defence has been left to bare bones, with young Leon King has been left to handle the pressure.
Porteous could be available on the cheap, it won’t be a bad move if the Gers can land him in January.
In other Rangers news, a first January arrival is being lined up for Beale with discussions already begun.
