Rangers AGM: Proposed seat additions to Copland and Broomloan Road stands will require new funding
Rangers’ proposed plans to add up to 1,800 new seats to the Copland and Broomloan Road stand will require substantial funding, and will come after 1,000 seats are lost to a new accessibility section at Ibrox, Andrew Dickson announced at the AGM.
The additional seating in the two stands will compensate for the section lost to the 162 new seats which are being introduced for disabled fans.
This comes as part of the club’s commitment to making accessibility improvements for disabled facilities in the Ibrox stadium.

Dickson announced that the club studied several stadiums around Europe and left no stone unturned as they aim to make steps forward in the coming year.
Colin from the Heart and Hand Podcast tweeted: “Plan is to add an extra few rows to the front of the Copland and Broom Rear. Allowing 1800 new seats.
“This is proposed and will require funding.”
Much-needed but glaring issue
It is good to see the board taking steps to make improvements to the disabled facilities, which were in dire need of change.
However, if the board do take away the 1073 seats, which will be lost in order to make the changes to accessibility, many season ticket holders will lose their seats without confirmation of the definitive change.
Yes, the board are looking to add 1800 new seats to compensate for the losses, but these are proposed and not confirmed.
If they can’t register the funds or plans fall through to make the additional changes to the Copland and Broomloan Road stands, then over a thousand season ticket holders may be left stranded without seating.
Apart from this glaring issue to the stadium changes, the vision of Rangers does seem to be changing for the better, and they are taking a more progressive outlook on how the club should be run.
