Pundit expects Alex Lowry promotion to Rangers first team under Michael Beale as he recalls tweets

We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…

Tam McManus is sure Alex Lowry will see his senior involvement improve under Michael Beale now he’s back in charge of Rangers.

Lowry, 19, dropped down the pecking order under Giovanni van Bronckhorst despite being one of the most promising young talents at Ibrox.

He has, in fairness, been injured for a fair bit of this season but the Scotland Under-21 international had been fit for a few weeks before van Brockhorst was sacked.

BBC Scotland journalist Kheredine Idessane reported on 27 November that Lowry, as well as Zak Lovelace, as expected to be involved more in the first team now Beale has returned to Rangers.

That’s something McManus sees happening too, saying that fans are excited by the potential the young attacking midfielder is showing in Glasgow.

Speaking to Ibrox News, McManus said: “I’m sure I’ve seen Michael Beale raving about Alex Lowry on his social media posts when Alex came into the team.

He knows Alex, he’s seen him coming through the ranks at Rangers.

He’s now fit playing in the B team so it’s good that he’s getting game time.

I think the supporters want to see younger players coming through and Lowry is 19, he’s got plenty of time ahead of him.

He’ll definitely get more game-time under Beale.”

Lowry has played just once for the senior side this season when he came off the bench late on in the 3-1 Champions League defeat to Ajax on 1 November.

In other Rangers news, this prolific goalscorer is “excited” by speculation linking him with a move to Ibrox in January.
