Kenny Miller backs ‘forgotten’ Glen Kamara for Rangers revival under Michael Beale
Kenny Miller believes the return of Michael Beale to Rangers would see midfield maestro Glen Kamara return to his best form at Ibrox.
Finland’s player of the year for 2022 has not been starting games as often as he would have expected this season with Giovanni van Bronckhorst preferring other options prior to his sacking.
But Kamara was a key player in Steven Gerrard’s Light Blues side when Beale was assistant manager in Glasgow and he may choose to reinstate the 27-year-old.

“Glen has become a bit of a forgotten man at Ibrox,” Miller said to the Daily Record. “But this is a guy who was absolutely integral to the success they had in winning a league title.
“He was a mainstay. A rock in their midfield alongside Ryan Jack and John Lundstram. This season, for some reason, he seems to have fallen out of favour.
“From the outside, it appeared he’d become a little disheartened by not getting enough game time. That led to talk about a move away from Rangers in August.
“His form this season has been nowhere near what we know he’s capable of. But that could be about to change with the return of Michael Beale as manager.
“I’m not going to say I know Glen inside out. But I spent a bit of time with him at Dens and I do know that he’s a wonderful footballer.”

Dynamic
As good as Lundstram is at his job of marshalling the back four, he does not possess the creativity and skill that Kamara has and often adds to the middle of the park.
Against the sides who will just sit in and ask Rangers to break them down, Lundstram can’t penetrate through the lines and cause some havoc in the opposition’s low block.
Kamara has that ability to dribble with the ball, past opponents, and drag a number of defenders towards him which then creates gaps elsewhere for his teammates to exploit.
Why van Bronckhorst did not think to try this out much is something only he will know but with Beale now at the wheel, he should be much more willing to give the Finnish international that license to attack from midfield.
In turn, that will also reduce the load on Antonio Colak, Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and company to score all the goals and James Tavernier’s penalties will become much less crucial too.
In other Rangers news, one never-before-seen player was pictured in training on Thursday (1 December) to further strengthen a key department.
