Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara sends message after being named Player of the Year
Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara has won the Finnish Player of the Year award despite him not featuring regularly for his club side this season.
The Finland international took to Twitter to share a picture of him with the trophy which does look like a golden ball.
He received it at the Captain’s Ball on 2 December and then sent a message about how ecstatic he was to win it.
He wrote, “What an honour to receive Finnish player of the year at this year’s Captains Ball.”
Time for a resurgence?
TuttoSalernitana reported on 22 November that Italian club Salernitana are keen on signing Kamara and he has even been linked with a move to Turkey in the past.
He had fallen down the pecking order under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and went from being one of the first names on the team sheet to not even getting minutes off the bench regularly.
Now with the Dutchman gone and Michael Beale arriving, Kamara may be given a fresh chance to prove his worth.
Beale surely saw the best of the 27-year-old’s time at Ibrox and will be aware of how talented he is and what he can bring to the table for the Gers.
It’s now on the manager to decide whether or not Kamara is still the same player or he’s regressed over time as there is a feeling that it is the latter.
He no longer seems to have the sharpness in his game, but maybe the award as well as Beale’s arrival could help him turn his Ibrox career around.
In other Rangers news, Ross Wilson is put on high alert as a “Magnificent” midfielder is now prepared to leave his club in the January transfer window amid Ibrox links.
