Kieran Wright spotted in Rangers training as images emerge from first Michael Beale session

Goalkeeper Kieran Wright has been pictured in Rangers first-team training as Michael Beale takes charge of his first session at Auchenhowie.

The 23-year-old has never played a game for the Light Blues’ senior team but is still contracted to the club until the end of the 2022-23 season.

During his time at Ibrox, having come through the youth ranks, Wright has been on seven different loan spells across Scotland with his most recent being at Alloa Athletic and Dumbarton last season.

Rangers

Rangers’ official website released a series of images of Beale’s open training session and among the goalkeeping contingent, Wright is seen in his personalised training gear.

He was the fourth shot-stopper in training with Allan McGregor, Jon McLaughlin and Robby McCrorie all present and under the watchful eye of Beale.

Release him

Wright is 23 years of age and has never played a single minute of senior football for the Light Blues which should indicate that Beale will release him from the club when his contract expires.

McCrorie is already the academy graduate who can’t get the better of either experienced number one and the Bears do not need another lingering around the place all that often.

Rangers

If they can find a loan move for Wright in January then he has to go just to get him away from the revolution and he can then be released at the end of the season.

Beale may well need a new goalkeeper anyway because McGregor and McLaughlin have not been good enough so far in 2022-23 either domestically or in the Champions League.

January is the perfect chance for the goalkeeping department to receive a major overhaul and provide the foundations for the club to move forward on the pitch rather than backward.

In other Rangers news, the shot-stoppers are going to be working with a familiar face under Beale who has given this staff member another chance.
