Jamie Carragher reacts to huge Michael Beale Rangers news on Sky Sports

Jamie Carragher has shared his verdict on Rangers’ decision to appoint Michael Beale as their new head coach following the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Beale is the appointment a majority of fans had at the top of their wishlist and returns to Ibrox after a stint as Steven Gerrard’s number two.

Carragher confessed that the Ibrox top job is a “huge jump” for Beale after the Englishman left Championship side Queens Park Rangers for the role.

“It was obvious at some stage he was going to take that step from QPR,” Carragher told Sky Sports as quoted by the Glasgow Times.

“A great start at QPR, a big jump to Rangers – a huge club.

“But he has tasted that before. I’m sure he is well aware of how big it is.”

Time.

Beale needs time to settle and get a grasp of the job at hand before any early assumptions are made over his capabilities to guide Rangers to better days.

The fans ultimately wanted van Bronckhorst to leave the club and they got their wish, now they must fully support Beale and the decisions he makes.

It won’t be easy, but at least the Englishman doesn’t have tricky European fixtures to worry about, for now, and can fully concentrate on domestic matters for the Gers.

Backing in the January transfer window is essential to anything Beale will do moving forward, a massive squad overhaul is needed to rid Rangers of deadwood.

Too many players aren’t living and breathing for the Light Blue shirt this season and Beale won’t be taking any prisoners when it comes to passion and desire.

All in all, it’s a positive move from Rangers, there aren’t many better-equipped managers to succeed at Ibrox right now, touch wood, and Beale will bring brighter days back to Glasgow.

In other Rangers news, a former Ibrox chief has slammed the current board for their decision to hire Beale.
