Michael Beale given Rangers ‘promise’ ahead of January window

Michael Beale has the “promise of funds” in the upcoming January window as the 42-year-old finally takes the reigns at Rangers, according to Dean Jones.

The former QPR boss took training for the first time on Tuesday (29 November) as he looks to turn the Light Blues’ failing season around.

Jones has suggested Beale will be given backing by the board and will have a “big say” on how the club is run during his time at Ibrox.

Talking to GIVEMESPORT (29 November), the former Bleacher Report journalist said: “Part of it is that Rangers have spelt out a promising future plan for him. He knows he’s going to be able to shape the first team and he will be able to have a big say on how the club is run too.

“I think they really see him as a big figurehead here and that is something that’s really exciting. The promise of funds in January comes as part of the package.”

Needs backing

What is clear is that this group of players aren’t quite at the level required to get the Gers competing with Celtic on a domestic level. Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield and Steven Davis could all leave the club in the summer, and it could provide Beale with the ideal chance to rejuvenate this ageing squad.

If the board want to salvage anything from this season, it’s absolutely essential for them to back their new manager in the January window. If Rangers can add one or two quality players to their ranks, it could be enough to get them to compete with Celtic for the 2022/23 title.

There are some big decisions for Beale to make in January with the futures of Kent and Morelos probably at the top of his to-do list. There’s still a chance for Rangers to recoup minimal fees for the pair if they do decide to sell them in January.

However, considering they didn’t sell Morelos and Kent last summer, it would now make sense to hold onto them for the remainder of the season. If Beale can get either player to somewhere near their best, it could be a significant boost for Rangers moving forward.

In other Rangers news, this Auchenhowie teenager is attracting the eyes of Premier League giants as the club get desperate to hold onto him.
