Rangers to sell Ryan Kent in January as German transfer development emerges – ex-BBC Scotland pundit

We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…

Tam McManus expects Rangers to cash in on Ryan Kent in the January transfer window with the winger’s contract due to expire at the end of the season.

Ex-Eurosport journalist Dean Jones told GiveMeSport on 18 November that Kent, 26, is wanted by clubs both in England and in Germany with a decision to be made at the end of December.

The ex-Liverpool attacker has struggled this season at Ibrox, scoring just one goal in his 22 appearances across all competitions.

McManus feels it may be difficult for Kent to attract buyers due to his poor record this season.

However, the former striker does believe that the Gers will at least try to sell him in the January transfer window.

“If Rangers can get some decent money for him, they should take it because there’s no doubt that he and Alfredo Morelos are going to run down their contracts. It’s been clear for quite a while,” McManus told Ibrox News.

Whether that’s because they’re not happy with the terms that are being offered, they want to try a different challenge or Rangers have stopped the talks. That wouldn’t surprise me.

Rangers

Neither of them have produced the numbers this season. You can see that Kent is a good footballer, you can see those flashes of brilliance. But nowadays, if you’re looking at him as a manager or a scout, you’re looking at numbers, you’re looking at goals and assists. Kent hasn’t produced either this season.

It’s nowhere near enough for an attacking player at Rangers when you think of the chances they create every week.

I think he’ll be on his way and I think Rangers will get money for him to invest in the team.”

In other Rangers news, an approach has been made for a new manager – and it’s not Michael Beale.
