Michael Beale tipped to eventually quit Rangers for bigger job in England by Martin Samuel
Michael Beale has only just been appointed as Rangers manager, but Daily Mail columnist Martin Samuel thinks the job is a stepping stone for the 42-year-old.
Beale’s return to Ibrox has been made official, with the 42-year-old making a comeback to Glasgow after spending three-and-a-half years at the club under Steven Gerrard as an assistant.

After downing tools at QPR and going back on his promise of loyalty, the Daily Mail’s Samuel has warned Rangers that the 42-year-old will eventually do the same for a “bigger job” in England.
Via his Daily Mail column (29 November, Pg 65), Samuel wrote: “He will think he can do better than Giovanni van Bronckhorst and, if he does, it could be the pathway to a bigger job in England than QPR.
“So when Wolves came calling, why not just say that? Say that the move wasn’t right at the time and leave it there. Beale must have known there was a club that could attract him, but it just wasn’t Wolves.
“Nobody is judging him for taking a promotion – but why the speech?”
A huge job
Talking about Beale’s future just a day into his Rangers reign is far too early. Frankly, taking the Ibrox hot seat is a huge job, and many Premier League managers would jump at the chance to manage in Glasgow.

It’d be naive to suggest that Beale won’t be tempted by top European clubs, but his focus will be fully on the job at hand at Rangers and fans won’t doubt that.
He did a superb job as a coach under Gerrard and clearly cares passionately about the club to return. There’s a big gap to Celtic that needs closing and silverware up for grabs this season and that will be his goal for his first few months.
While Beale is clearly getting a lot of stick for leaving QPR after mentioning loyalty and integrity, he did show his faith in the club by snubbing Wolves – which in itself is a huge statement.
It’s completely separate from the Rangers approach, which Beale himself described as “impossible to turn down” [Sky Sports]. Gers fans shouldn’t have any doubt over Beale’s loyalty – he’s here to stay.
