Michael Beale could catapult value of Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara amid transfer development

Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara could feel “revived” by the presence of new Gers boss Micheal Beale, according to Brian Laudrup.

Writing his column for the Scottish Daily Mail (29 November, page 68), the popular pundit has suggested that if Beale can get the best out of Kamara, it will drive up his value in the transfer market.

Italian club Salernitana have reignited their interest in Kamara, as reported by TuttoSalernitana (25 November), and strong performance under Beale could strengthen his value in the transfer market, as the Glasgow club needs “assets”.

“We all know some big players simply haven’t performed this season,” wrote Laudrup for The Scottish Daily Mail.

“Will Beale be able to get a reaction from them? That’s clearly what the Rangers board hope.

“Take the example of Glen Kamara. He might well feel revived by the new manager, someone I’d guess he really trusts. If Beale can get the best from Kamara again, there is a chance to strengthen his value in the transfer market. And Rangers need assets.”

January window

Beale became the 18th manager at Ibrox after the official confirmation was made on Monday (28 November).

His appointment is seen as a major gamble by some pundits. His lack of managerial experience is a major drawback, but given his success as an assistant manager under Steven Gerrard, the Gers board has taken the leap of faith.

He comes to the club at a crucial time and the pressure on him is enormous. The Bears are nine points behind Celtic at the top of the table, while the squad needs an overhaul.

On top of that, some of the key players are soon to become free agents. Put simply, he will need proper backing in the January transfer window and beyond.

Rangers

Kamara has a long-term contract at Ibrox, and if he can rediscover his form, Rangers can demand a high transfer fee for him.

The 27-year-old central midfielder was a key player under Gerrard, but his influence in the side has waned under Gio van Bronckhorst.

In reality, he has been pretty average in the past 12 months. He has managed only three league starts this season, and the club could be tempted to sell him if there’s a good offer on the table.

In other Rangers news, Beale could be facing a mass exodus of players at Ibrox once he arrives.
