Michael Beale to hand Alex Lowry chance to shine at Rangers with announcement soon – BBC journalist

QPR boss Michael Beale is expected to be announced as the new Rangers manager in the next 48 hours and one of his first jobs will be to hand an opportunity to several rising stars, according to BBC journalist Kheredine Idessane.

The 42-year-old will take the reins in the Ibrox dugout following a tough start to the season, which saw the Gers fall nine points behind league leaders Celtic and crash out of the Champions League under the former Dutch manager.

If appointed, Beale will have two weeks to get to grips with his players before resuming Scottish Premiership action against Hibernian on Thursday December 15.

BBC Scotland journalist Idessane Tweeted that the English manager is likely to give plenty of opportunities to the club’s youth when he first arrives at Ibrox.

He said: “Expect Michael Beale to be announced as new Rangers manager in the next 48 hours.

“Also expect him to let younger players get their chance. Good news, if all goes through as expected, for the likes of [Alex] Lowry and [Zak] Lovelace. Bigger question is: can he close the gap on Celtic?”

Finally

Both the appointment of Beale and the news he is likely to give Rangers’ up-and-coming stars a chance to shine will come as welcome news to Gers fans.

The 42-year-old has already built his short-term success at QPR around the development of youngsters, including 19-year-old Sinclair Armstrong and bodes well for several of the club’s best talents.

Attacking midfielder Lowry was set back for almost two months at the beginning of the season due to a rotten run of luck on the Ibrox medical table and not deemed physically strong enough to deal with the rigours of SPL football.

Consequently, the 19-year-old starlet has been biding his time before fully making his mark at Ibrox and the appointment of Beale could be the exact opportunity he was waiting for.

With Rangers staring down a nine-point gap to close rivals Celtic in the SPL, the 42-year-old must be careful how and when he beds in these undoubtedly talented stars that the Gers have at their disposal.
