Michael Beale agrees personal terms with Rangers as contract details are revealed – journalist

Michael Beale is set to be announced as the new Rangers manager on Monday, with a three-and-a-half-year deal agreed, according to Sam Wallace.

Exactly a week after sacking Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Rangers are set to announce his successor with a deal agreed with former assistant Beale.

Beale enjoyed plenty of success at Ibrox alongside Steven Gerrard but the 42-year-old now looks set to go solo, with The Telegraph’s Wallace claiming an appointment is imminent.

“Michael Beale will be announced as the new manager of Rangers tomorrow,” read Wallace’s tweet.

“Agreement now in place for him to leave QPR and Beale personal terms at Ibrox done. Three and a half year contract.”

New era

Beale’s appointment needs to symbolise big change at Ibrox. Van Bronckhorst looked to be a great fit at Rangers until his squad depleted with injury and the board failed to back him.

Admittedly the Dutchman did make some questionable decisions to help make up the board’s mind but the club certainly needs to do more to support Beale at the helm if Gers are going to knock Celtic off their perch again.

Transfer business has to be more concise and thought through, while Beale will also need people above him helping him with the footballing operations at the club.

He’s shown at QPR that he’s more than capable tactically and when it comes to managing the players in the dressing room, but this ageing and injury-stricken Rangers squad desperately needs gutting and rebuilding. Beale cannot do that on his own.

His appointment at Ibrox is exciting and will bring back memories of the title-winning season under Gerrard, but the club can’t afford to just be fueled by nostalgia.

January is the club’s first test, and there’s plenty of work to be done.

In other Rangers news. Rangers could look to sign Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour on loan in the January transfer window.
