Rangers contact representatives of Francesco Farioli out of fear Michael Beale deal will collapse

Rangers have sounded out three managers who they’ll turn to if they fail to hire Michael Beale as their next manager, according to The Times.

The newspaper reported via their website on Sunday (27 November) that Norwegian Kjetil Knutsen and Italians Dominico Tedesco and Francesco Farioli are all on the radar at Ibrox.

It is understood that the Light Blues ” have made contact with representatives” of those three foreign bosses.

Smart planning

Rangers have to be praised for having contingency plans in place in case a deal for Beale collapses.

However, wouldn’t fans prefer at least a couple of those managers instead of the former Steven Gerrard assistant?

Beale is very inexperienced having only stepped up to first-team management in the summer at QPR.

Farioli isn’t the most battle-hardened either. The 33-year-old Italian has only managed in Turkey since 2021 with Fatih Karagümrük before moving to Alanyaspor.

Knutsen has done wonders at Bodo/Glimt in Norway since 2018, winning two league titles and even winning 6-1 against Jose Mourinho’s Roma in Europe last year.

Tedesco is 37 and has managed at Schalke, Spartak Moscow and RB Leipzig.

His CV is easily the most impressive but he was sacked by Leipzig in September following a poor start to the season.

Beale looks to be Rangers’ man though so we expect him to be formally announced as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s successor in the coming days.

In other Rangers news, Beale could be facing a mass exodus of players at Ibrox once he arrives.
