Rangers power struggle as Ross Wilson pushed for Michael Beale, Sean Dyche favoured by others
Ross Wilson appears to have come out on top of a Rangers power struggle in pushing for Michael Beale as manager, according to West London Sport.
The deal has reportedly been done for the former Ibrox assistant to become the next manager, but he was apparently not the universal top choice among the Gers hierarchy.
The 42-year-old emerged as the frontrunner earlier in the week but senior figures, aside from the sporting director, reportedly wanted to speak to other options such as former Burnley boss Sean Dyche.

According to West London Sport earlier on Saturday (26 November): “Beale wants the job and made no attempt to distance himself from recent reports that he is on course to return to the club where he was previously assistant manager.
“He has a close relationship with Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson, who is keen to appoint him, although other senior figures at the club are believed to want to explore other options, including former Burnley boss Sean Dyche.
“With an official approach to QPR having now been made, it appears that Wilson has got his way and that Beale is in pole position.”
Concerning
With Beale now apparently set to be announced it is not reassuring for fans if this is based on Wilson, who is unpopular with plenty of them already, pushing his preference due to a strong personal relationship.
Any club at any time have to be looking for the best candidate to win games and be successful, and especially for the Light Blues right now considering the difficult situation they are in.
Beale has proven himself to be a talented coach and has built a strong reputation as such, especially being seen as the brains of the Steven Gerrard reign that won the last SPFL title at Ibrox.

But he is very inexperienced as a manager in his own right, and when he arrives he will have swapped one bad run of form at Loftus Road that he is responsible for, to pick up another one in Scotland that he isn’t.
He might be the man to restore Rangers back to where they were when he followed Gerrard to Aston Villa, but the decision-makers should be on the same page for this appointment.
Dyche immediately seemed like the right kind of profile when Giovanni van Bronckhorst was sacked on Monday (21 November), and there are believed to have be various interested parties, so it would be a dereliction of duty to overlook them for a personal favourite.
A quick appointment certainly needed to be made, but having taken a week of the World Cup break before removing the Dutchman they should have got closer to a consensus, especially as it then took nearly another whole week before the official approach to QPR was made.
If Beale is arriving on Wilson’s so way and turns out to not be the right man then it could cost them both their jobs.
In other Rangers news, Beale’s integrity has been questioned ahead of his possible return as doubts remain.
