Rangers contact Portuguese manager Luís Castro as next option if Michael Beale move fails
Rangers have contacted Portuguese manager Luis Castro as their next option if they fail in their pursuit to land Michael Beale, according to GoalBR journalist Raisa Simplicio.
The journalist’s comments tie in well with a report published by The Times on 26 November 2022 that claimed Rangers have yet to make an official approach for Beale.
Simplicio admitted that Botafogo manager Castro, who’s previously managed Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk, has been “contacted” by Rangers over the possibility of becoming their new head coach should a deal with Beale not go through.
“Luís Castro, from Botafogo, was contacted by Rangers, from Scotland,” said the GoalBR journalist on Twitter.
“The technician is an option if the negotiation with Michael Beale does not go through.”

Here we go, again.
Just when you think Rangers are about to head in a new positive direction another bombshell lands, it’s never easy being a Gers fan at the moment.
Beale seemed like he was inches away from signing on the dotted line but this latest news casts doubt over whether Rangers are able to secure their first choice.
Every fan can probably admit that Beale would be top of their lists for who they want to be the club’s next manager so if the hierarchy fails to deliver on this, it’s nothing short of a travesty.
Especially after coming out and making it massively clear that Beale is the team’s number one choice.
Taking a punt on the Castro seems like an absolutely wild alternative too, it’s hard to fathom whether he’d be able to come into Ibrox and do a decent job or not.
The next 24 hours will likely be crucial in this one, it’s going to be an interesting weekend for Rangers.
In other Rangers news, a four-time league winner is likely to want to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst and may even throw his CV into the mix after a major recent development.
