Agent accused of leaking Rangers approach to hire Luis Castro as contact reportedly made

The agent has been accused of leaking Rangers approach to hire Botafogo manager Luis Castro, as reported by Vital Rangers.

The Gers are in the process of appointing their next manager following the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and Castro has emerged as a surprise new name.

Michael Beale is leading the race to become the next manager at Ibrox, but no agreement has been reached as yet.

“It very much sounds like an agent leaking the Rangers situation for their own ends,” a source suggested to Vital Rangers.

Unlikely

Goal Brazil journalist Raisa Simplicio reported on 25 November that Castro has been contacted by the Scottish Premiership side, and he remains an option if the Bears fail to land Beale.

Castro is a vastly experienced manager who has been something of a journeyman in his career.

He previously managed clubs like Porto and Shakhtar Dontesk, and has Champions League experience as well.

However, it feels like an agent-driven rumour, with hardly any truth to it. The Gers are looking to make a formal approach to QPR, while the London club are also preparing for life without him, as reported by Daily Record on 25 November.

Rangers

Beale would be a monumental gamble appointment for the club, but he still looks a lot better choice than others. The Bears are nine points behind Celtic at the moment, and the title chase is almost as good as over.

What Beale can do is bring back the dressing room harmony and get key players to extend their deals at the club.

He is someone who loves to play an attacking brand of football, and Rangers players could respond well to his methods. Most importantly, he is someone who understands the culture of the club, and the pressure that lies with it.

It’s a calculated risk that the bears are willing to take.

In other Rangers news, a Serie A club is keen to sign this first-team player in the January window.
