Official Rangers partner shared what Gio van Bronckhorst did immediately after being sacked today

Giovanni van Bronckhorst called office staff at Rangers to thank them for their hard work after he was sacked on Monday, according to an official club partner.

The Dutch coach was sacked on Monday morning after a poor run of form saw Rangers fall nine points behind Celtic in the title race, as well as being humiliated in Europe in the Champions League.

But while many were glad to see a change of direction at the club with his exit, the club’s official partner Heart & Hand podcast chose to share a lovely story from behind the scenes.

“A word on Gio – he called office staff and workers today to thank them for all their work over the last year,” they wrote on their personal Twitter account.

“It didn’t work for him but he really is a good person. Wish him all the best in future.”

Lovely touch

There are no doubts that Van Bronckhorst is a great man, and it’s a real shame that he struggled in the job as a manager considering how well it started.

He managed to get two trophies in the cabinet for the club and also managed to reach the Europa League final despite the fact the squad was clearly not supposed to be competing for trophies at that level.

But this season it’s really unravelled after he wasn’t given the proper backing financially in the transfer window and the team has gone backwards.

Only seven wins in his last 18 games as manager spell out how bad the form has been, and whoever the new man is will have a difficult job overrunning Celtic now.

But this story shows that while it didn’t work out for him professionally, he is a great human and a lovely man who will be missed at Ibrox and he will always be welcome to return with cheers for what he achieved.
