Kevin Muscat tipped to ‘end up at Rangers’ as Giovanni van Bronckhorst speculation continues to swirl
Sydney FC manager Steve Corica has suggested that Ange Postecoglou’s former assistant Kevin Muscat would be a great fit for the Rangers job.
Corica, who is good friends with both Muscat and Postecoglou, has claimed that the current Yokohama F Marinos boss would be a great Giovanni van Bronckhrost replacement at Ibrox.
Muscat worked with Postecoglou at Melbourne Victory as well as in Yokohama, and he won the J-League title with the latter after the Australian manager left for Celtic.

With Van Bronckhorst now on the ropes at Ibrox, Corica said he “wouldn’t be surprised” if Muscat is being linked with the job.
“He went on and won the league this season, so I’m sure Kevin could do a great job at Rangers,” insisted Corica, as per the Daily Record.
“He’s just won the J-League in Japan while he’s also won the A-League here. So Kevin’s very capable, he’s a very good coach and I know he’s very thorough in what he does.
“Wherever he’s gone he’s won trophies. So, I have no doubt he would do a great job at Rangers. Of course Kevin would take on Ange. He’s very competitive.
“I’m sure one day he probably will end up at Rangers.”
Know thy enemy
If there’s anyone in world football that will know how to dethrone Postecoglou, it’s Muscat. After working with him for years and learning his management methods, Muscat will know all the ins and outs of how the Australian is running Celtic.
It’d certainly make for a blockbuster Old Firm, with yet another dramatic storyline added to one of the biggest rivalries in world football.

Muscat’s start to his managerial career has also been very bright after winning titles both in Australia and in Japan. Should Van Bronckhorst depart, he’s certainly an option that will make it onto the shortlist.
On top of that, Muscat has prior knowledge of Rangers and Ibrox after winning the treble in Glasgow during his stint with Gers in 2002/03. He knows what it means to play for the club – although fans may not want another ex-player at the club after Van Bronckhorst’s tenure.
Either way, a Muscat v Postecoglou rivalry in Glasgow would be something to cherish, but as of now Van Bronckhorst is being given one last chance to turn things around.
