Pundit shares verdict on ‘terrible’ Rangers players and makes claim on ‘big money’ Ibrox exits
Tam McManus feels none of the current group of Rangers players will be attracting attention from elsewhere after their “terrible” performances this season.
The Light Blues failed to pick up a point in their Champions League group stage campaign and Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have already fallen nine points behind in the title race.
McManus has suggested the Gers’ current performance level will mean other clubs will not be queuing up to sign any of their players.

Talking on the PLZ Football Show (48:03, 16 November), he said: “I don’t think there’s any in this current squad which would be sold for big money. I think they’ve done the right business and they’ve sold at the right time by selling Aribo and Bassey and they got top dollar for them.
“But both of them were playing in a team that got to a European final getting great exposure and having big clubs watching them from all around Europe.
“I just don’t see it this season if you’re looking at a team which is struggling in the league and who were terrible in the Champions League I don’t think there will be scouts looking at that think they’ll take some of their players.
“I don’t think they’ll take any Rangers players at the minute.”
Not wrong
McManus isn’t wrong in his assessment. At the moment, there are probably two or three younger players the Gers could sell on for a decent fee. Alex Lowry and Leon King are two names who are contracted to the club for the foreseeable future and are likely to be attracting interest from elsewhere.
Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are both out of contract so are likely to leave for free and the remainder of van Bronckhorst’s squad is either underperforming, ageing or out of contract. The next two transfer windows will be absolutely crucial for the Gers going forward.

The board at Ibrox simply have to reinvest the Champions League money along with the transfer fees the club received in the 2022 summer window.
With so many players now out of contract, it does have the feeling of an end of an era at Ibrox and that’s not a bad thing. The club desperately needs a reset and that could now happen over the next two windows.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are ready to bid £5million to beat Celtic to the signing of one of their long-term targets.
