Craig Moore rubbishes suggestion Rangers would struggle to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst

Giovanni van Bronckhorst finds himself under huge pressure at Rangers – and Craig Moore believes there are plenty of suitable replacements out there should he be sacked.

With Rangers enduring a torrid Champions League campaign and slipping nine points behind Celtic, Van Bronckhorst is on the brink of losing his job.

Speculation about a replacement is already underway, and while there are a lack of standout candidates, Moore insists that won’t save the Dutchman’s job at Ibrox.

Speaking via the Go Radio Football Show (15 November), the Rangers TV pundit said: “There are big expectations at the football club, but whenever you think there is nothing out there, trust me, there is always an opportunity.

“There is always someone out there who can come in and do the job.

“Clubs always seem to find a way.”

Plenty of replacements

Van Bronckhorst should never be kept in the job just because the board can’t find their perfect candidate. There are plenty of suitors out there, and the storied history of Rangers is enough to lure many managers out of their current position.

The harsh truth is that Van Bronckhorst has hugely underperformed this season and the players and fans have both seemingly turned against him. He’s at the point of no return – it’s only a matter of time until he’s given his marching orders.

The board should already be writing up a shortlist of potential replacements and checking their availability. The World Cup break is a perfect opportunity to bring in a new manager and let him implement his ideas before the presumption of the Premiership in December.

Now is the time to act, and the board can’t hide behind excuses of not being able to find a suitable replacement. As mentioned by Moore, clubs always find a way to hire new managers, and there is an endless list of coaches that would love to take the reigns at Ibrox.
