Glen Kamara summer saga could re-emerge as news today surely shows Rangers exit near

Glen Kamara is a player who has endured a tough time of late – and his Rangers future could potentially be in the balance yet again.

The Gers have been linked with a summer move for Nicolas Raskin, and the 21-year-old is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a new club on 1 January (Voetbalnieuws, 15 November). His contract is up in the summer, and the Light Blues could well pounce to seal a cut-price deal for the midfielder.

Kamara has featured just seven times in the Scottish Premiership under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and has previously been linked with a move away from Ibrox.

Nice were looking to complete a deadline-day move for the midfielder (The Scottish Sun, 1 September), and at one point it looked as if he was going to secure a summer exit. Considering how little he has featured this season, it is clear he is out of favour under van Bronckhorst.

If the Gers landed a new midfielder, it appears Kamara would move even further down the pecking order at Ibrox. The Finland international is now 27 and is contracted to Rangers until the summer of 2025 meaning the club could still receive a sizable fee for the underperforming midfielder.

Raskin would be an exciting and progressive addition for Rangers, with a large squad overhaul potentially on the cards this summer. The Gers have a number of players who are lacking form but are also out of contract in 2023.

It presents the board at Ibrox with a wonderful opportunity to finally refresh the squad and utilise some of the large transfer fees they received in the summer of 2022.

In other Rangers news, the club can now finally hit the transfer market hard in January after a £55million windfall.
