Rangers have no option but to sack Giovanni van Bronckhorst – Keith Jackson

Keith Jackson believes that keeping Giovanni van Bronckhorst as manager at Rangers is “not even an option” for the club amid their recent poor form.

The Gers fell nine points behind Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership on Saturday (12 November) after being held to a 1-1 draw against St Mirren, following on from the embarrassment of a Champions League campaign they also had.

Van Bronckhorst is under severe pressure to be axed by fans at the club, but the board have so far stuck by him and Jackson told the Daily Record (14 November) that the board have their “head in the sand” if they can’t see he must go.

“That’s a matter entirely for the Rangers board,” he said.

“Almost everyone else appears to have realised that keeping Van Bronckhorst in charge is not even an option. But try telling that to someone with his head in the sand.”

Has to go

It’s crazy to say this out loud, but we agree with what Keith Jackson is saying about Rangers right now.

The manager has lost control of the club and the entirety of the board and those above him clearly don’t really know what they’re doing right now when it comes to decisions on the pitch.

The team have totally stagnated when it comes to performances on the pitch, and Van Bronckhorst has shown next to to nothing that indicates he can turn it around or change things up to get an improvement from the players.

Injuries certainly haven’t helped his cause, but he seems to only trust a fraction of his squad and that is affecting how the others perform when asked to come in and do a job.

At this point it’s simply untenable for him to stick around and if the board don’t act quickly, it just delays the inevitable and gives the new man less time to work with the squad to try and turn things around.
