Kjetil Knutsen namedrops agent as Rangers identify him as Giovanni van Bronckhorst replacement

Rangers managerial target Kjetil Knutsen has ruled out leaving Bodo/Glimt midway through the season and admits his focus is entirely on the Norwegian side.

Daily Record reported on 12 November, that Knutsen was identified by the Ibrox hierarchy as a potential replacement for Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The Dutchman is under tremendous pressure after another disappointing result over the weekend, but Knutsen has all but ruled himself out of joining Rangers.

Via the Daily Record, Knutsen said, “Firstly, I have Morten Wivestad as my agent. I have been clear that now I stand with my head in a pressure cooker, and things that are outside Bodo/Glimt I am completely uninterested in.

“I do not want any enquiries, and I do not answer any telephone calls. I only have 100 per cent focus on Bodo/Glimt.”

Coup for Rangers?

No manager comes out and says they want to leave but if Rangers do manage to lure him away, it should be considered a coup for them.

Knutsen plays an exciting brand of football that has earned him plaudits domestically as well as across the continent in the Conference League as well as the Europa League.

Foot the Ball did a comprehensive feature on him in September 2022 and described his playing philosophy as similar to that of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Much like the German, Knutsen employs a high press and likes his players to win the ball back higher up the pitch, especially when they have just lost possession.

He even embarrassed Jose Mourinho’s Roma side 6-1 and that was the result that drew everyone’s attention to Knutsen.

The Norwegian coach would certainly bring the good times back to Ibrox and the fans would enjoy watching their side every week and not just putting hopeless crosses into the box.

In other Rangers news, Nicola Sturgeon has been called out amid a worrying recent development at Ibrox.
