Dave King set to heap pressure on Rangers board as Giovanni van Bronckhorst sack appears close

Dave King is set to fly into Glasgow in the near future as he gets set to heap more pressure on the Rangers board at Ibrox, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper has reported that the sack pressure on Giovanni van Bronckhorst is through the roof ahead of the annual AGM which is set to take place in December.

It would cost more than £3.5million to lay off the Dutchman and his staff, something that many now believe simply has to happen after weeks of carnage.

Writing in their latest column for the Daily Record, Andrew Newport shared the latest from the shareholders’ perspective to the carnage ensuing at Ibrox.

“The fans’ clamour for the manager to be sacked comes amid more pressure on the club as Dave King prepares to fly back to Glasgow,” he wrote.

“He is determined to heap fresh pressure on the under-fire Ibrox board ahead of next month’s powderkeg AGM. If Gers decide to pull the trigger on van Bronckhorst, it’s rumoured the cost of compensation required to remove the former Feyenoord coach and his backroom team could run to more than £3.5million.”

Pressure.

It is about time someone stood up at Ibrox.

Van Bronckhorst has failed to do it, the players have been even worst and the board have been absent to say the least after being spotted at games countless times.

Now, it looks as though King is going to step in and put his foot down in what could be his final major decision as he continues to drop shares to Club 1872.

The backroom staff and Van Bronckhorst cannot say that this hasn’t been coming either, with results not good enough for months and the gap to Celtic already at nine points.

It is now the perfect time to make the change during the World Cup break, giving a potential new manager plenty of time to get his style across in what is basically another pre-season.

No one ever wants to see a manager sacked, but sometimes it becomes the only option and after that embarrassing draw at St Mirren, that time has now come.

Over to you, King.
