Leon King health update emerges as Rangers share Twitter update
Rangers have provided an update on the health of Leon King after he was stretchered off in the 1-1 draw away at St Mirren on Saturday (12 November).
The teenager was replaced after an hour by Ryan Jack after a hefty blow to the head left him with a severe concussion and needing to visit the local hospital.
He has now since been discharged and the club were able to reveal the plan for his return to action which won’t come now until after the World Cup in Qatar.
“Injury Update: Leon King suffered a concussion in the second half of yesterday’s match, and was taken to hospital for assessment,” they said via their official Twitter account.
“Leon was discharged from hospital late yesterday afternoon with advice. Today, Leon is sore but well. He will now rest completely and follow a graded return to play under the supervision of the medical team.”
Timing
You never want to see players getting concussions or injuries but if it is going to happen, then doing it in the final game before a long break without matches is the time to do it.
King won’t have had that thought in his mind when the incident occurred but as he recovers at home he can at least have a wry smile knowing he isn’t going to miss any games for Rangers with this head knock.

It didn’t help Giovanni van Bronckhorst in Paisley, however, because even at 19 years of age he is already a key component of the Light Blues’ side owing to the defensive injuries already at Auchenhowie.
He and Ben Davies have been holding down the fort in recent weeks and the latter even missed a game when James Sands had to deputise at centre-half but their worries should be lessened considerably when the Premiership resumes in December.
In other Rangers news, Hugh Keevins has recommended van Bronckhorst ‘flee the country’ amid a very pressurising period at Ibrox.
