BBC Sportscene pundit stunned by Rangers ace Borna Barisic v St Mirren
Ex-Rangers winger Neil McCann was amazed as Rangers carved open a glorious chance in the first-half of the match against St Mirren on Saturday lunchtime.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side had the chance to close the seven-point gap to league leaders Celtic at St Mirren but failed to do so in a disappointing 1-1 draw.
It was Rangers left-back Borna Barisic who had the Sportscene pundit purring, as he delivered a sumptuous cross into Scott Wright at the back post.

Commentating for the BBC Sport website after Barisic was released down the left, he said: “What a save.
“It’s a beautiful cross and Scott Wright powers a header down. Carson misreads the flight and has to scramble and get down low.”

Lack of clinical edge
Before the trip to St Mirren, Van Bronckhorst was quick to lament his side’s lack of potency in front of goal which has seen them enter a poor run of form in both domestic and European competitions.
In turn, the Rangers boss has come under fire from supporters especially after his side crashed out of the Champions League in quite a spectacular style – scoring just two goals in six games.
It was a must-win game for The Gers, chances such as this for Wright really should have been finished. An easy header at the back post from point-blank range are the exact moments their manager spoke about, and chances such as this are the type that can save a manager’s job.
Van Bronckhorst will have been shaking his head watching along, knowing that the inevitable may have been coming as the minutes ticked down – crosses are not enough to win games, we have seen hundreds of them in recent weeks.
