Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz undergoes surgery – Journalist
Rangers left-back Ridvan Yilmaz appears to have undergone surgery, according to Turkish journalist Haluk Yürekli.
The Spor digital journalist has suggested on his Youtube channel that Yilmaz’s agent is currently in Scotland to check on the defender who is injured and required surgery this week.
Yurekli was speaking about Galatasaray player Yunus Akgun who also shares the same agent as Yilmaz. His contract talks have been delayed for a week, as the player’s agent has flown to Scotland to check on Yilmaz’s situation.
Twitter handle Arma Ugruna with over 5600 followers has quoted on Twitter what Yurekli said on Spor digital’s Youtube channel.
It translates as – “Yunus Akgün’s manager is also Ridvan Yilmaz’s manager. Yilmaz had surgery due to his injury and Yunus’s manager had to go there. Therefore, the new contract was pushed forward one week.”
Bold claim
When Yilmaz picked up an injury against Aberdeen in late October, it was feared that he could be out for a long time.
The Dutchman hinted that the Turkish defender might need more time to return and that the fans are likely to see him again after the World Cup break.
Van Bronckhorst was tight-lipped about the extent of the injury, but there was no mention of surgery. It could well happen that his injury has aggravated and as a result, he had to undergo surgery.

The 21-year-old defender joined the Bears in the summer transfer window from Besiktas. Initially, he struggled for game time, and Van Bronckhorst ignored him completely.
However, he made a strong return in the 4-0 win against St Mirren in early October when he came on as a substitute for Borna Barisic. He impressed in the 3-0 defeat against Napoli in the Champions League and looked brilliant in the opening eight minutes against the Dons before he picked up the injury.
Hopefully, Van Bronckhorst will provide more clarity on his situation in the next few days.
In other Rangers news, this former Premier League manager is a “standout” choice to replace van Bronckhorst if he’s sacked.
