Kris Boyd blown away by Ryan Kent live on Sky Sports in Rangers win v Hearts

Rangers eventually found their mojo to get past a stubborn Hearts side and keep the title pressure on Celtic in the Premiership.

Malik Tillman lifted a huge sigh of relief around Ibrox with a 67th-minute goal which proved to be enough to prevent the Jam Tarts from taking anything back to Edinburgh with them.

Kris Boyd was at Ibrox for Sky Sports and was in awe of the build-up to the goal and especially Ryan Kent’s contribution from the wing.

“It was Ryan Kent with a fantastic run, he managed to jink past two or three players,” Boyd said [Sky Sports News, 9 November, 09:10pm]. “he played a lovely ball down the left to Borna Barisic.

“He cuts it back and Malik Tillman is there and slides it into the back of the net underneath Craig Gordon. It’s a big goal and you can feel as if the fans were about to turn.”

Got away with it

The three points may have been secured on the night but it was still far from vintage Rangers and Giovanni van Bronckhorst is not out of the woods yet.

He was fortunate that Kent, who looked lively all game without making the right choices at times, was able to produce that one moment of quality and Tillman could finish the move off because things looked stale outside of that.

Rangers

Having said that, they were the only side trying to win the game for much of the evening and Hearts could easily see this as a missed opportunity having failed to lay a glove on the Light Blues.

A trip to St Mirren will end the initial run of games before the World Cup after which there will have to be a very big discussion with Auchenhowie about how to turn this around properly.

The manager will take much of the stick but it’s the players who should be owning up to their own downfalls on the pitch because it just keeps on happening.

In other Rangers news, the club have been forced to pay this business tycoon a whopping seven-figure sum after legal battles between the two parties.
