Kemar Roofe SPFL setback surely last Rangers chance as Giovanni van Bronckhorst frustration grows

Kemar Roofe is a player Rangers fans haven’t seen much of lately, and after his most recent injury issue, he could well be seeing the Ibrox exit door.

The 29-year-old suffered an injury “set back” which was set to keep him out for a couple of weeks (Daily Record, 28 October). However, there has been no sign of the former Leeds United striker, who now looks set to be out until after the World Cup.

Roofe has been out for the entire season but featured briefly against Livingston and Dundee. However, this latest injury woe could be the final nail in the coffin for the striker.

Pundit Tam McManus has exclusively told Ibrox News that Roofe’s absence will be beginning to frustrate Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who hasn’t been able to call upon the striker consistently during his time at the club.

With his contract up in the summer of 2024, it would not be a surprise to see the Gers cash in on Roofe and look to move him on during a big summer overhaul at the club. Rangers have a number of players out of contract, and there should be hope amongst fans that a summer rebuild should take place.

The Gers certainly won’t be short of takers when it comes to Roofe. In the summer there were a number of EFL sides looking to bring the striker back over the border. Derby showed a firm interest in the summer (Mirror, 17 July) and Sheffield Wednesday also sniffed around for the striker (The Sun’s Alan Nixon, 24 July).

Considering his injury record and contract situation, Rangers would be foolish not to accept a January bid for the forward to kickstart their larger squad overhaul.
