Athletic journalist shares if Rangers board give Giovanni van Bronckhorst ultimatum to avoid sack

The Rangers board have reportedly not given an ultimatum to Giovanni van Bronckhorst to avoid receiving the sack after recent performances.

According to the Athletic journalist Jordan Campbell on 7 November, not too much has changed about the Dutchman’s position at Ibrox.

In fact, wins in their next two games before the World Cup break could be enough to put the sack talks on the backburner.

Campbell wrote, “Nothing has changed in terms of his position and no ultimatums have been made to Van Bronckhorst yet. The board would need to think more seriously about making a change in the short term.

“There are two games remaining before the league stops for the World Cup break, the other being against St Mirren, and if he wins both it may be enough to reset the situation and reduce the nightmare injury pile-up.

“However, the break could also offer the perfect chance to make a decisive call and bring in a replacement who can use the month-long hiatus to bed in his ideas and assess his options before the January window.”

Make the brave call

The board cannot let this mediocrity continue and wins against Hearts and St Mirren will not really prove that he’s the right man for the job.

The Champions League campaign only proves that he’s not capable of getting the best of these players as he failed to inspire them to get over the line in games they could’ve fought harder.

While Napoli and Liverpool are better sides on paper, they’re not so good that Gers look like relegation fodder in front of them.

No team in the Champions League has a record so bad and teams have been in tougher groups in the past and still fared better.

They also seem unlikely to catch up to Celtic in the Premier League and that’s not a really pleasant look this early in the season.

Along with Gio, the board also need to relieve Ross Wilson of his duties as he’s mainly to blame for this current mess and someone is needed urgently to clean it all up.

In other Rangers news, Nicola Sturgeon has been called out amid a worrying recent development at Ibrox.
