Giovanni van Bronckhorst sacking ‘imminent’ at Rangers after Sunday development – pundit
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s sacking at Rangers is “imminent” according to Tam McManus, following the shocking 2-1 defeat to St Johnstone on Sunday.
The Gers went 2-0 down thanks to two stunning strikes either side of half-time, and James Tavernier’s strike late on wasn’t enough to spark a late comeback.
The loss saw them fall seven points behind league leaders Celtic and with fans turning up the pressure on the board to get rid of the Dutch coach, McManus took to his Twitter to insist there was no way back now.
“Don’t think any way back for GVB at Rangers,” he said on his personal Twitter account (6 November).
“The [axe] is imminent.”
Get gone
McManus isn’t someone who is particularly in the know about the goings on at Ibrox behind the scenes, but we’re praying he’s right about this one.
The manager has had a chance to really stamp his identity on the team and squad and he’s simply failed to do so, taking the team backwards from where we were when he took over a year ago.

We’re now seven points off the top of the league in November, but most importantly is the fact there is a month-long period coming up where a new manager can come in and put his ideas in place.
Van Bronckhorst can’t get any more out of this team than he has already, and it looks as though the players just aren’t buying into him anymore.
The squad is far better than it’s showing right now, and while injuries are an issue obviously, this is unacceptable. He has to go. If this club has serious aspirations of being the best again, then they must take action and quickly.
