Rangers to ‘100%’ want new striker as Giovanni van Bronckhorst loses trust in Alfredo Morelos – pundit
We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Rangers will “100 per cent” attempt to sign a new striker in January with Giovanni van Bronckhorst no longer trusting Alfredo Morelos, according to Tam McManus.
Summer signing Antonio Colak has seized the number one striker spot away from profligate Morelos, 26, since his arrival at Ibrox.
Morelos is struggling to get fit, failing to score from big chances and is also out of contract next year while Kemar Roofe, another striker option for van Bronckhorst, has barely played this season due to persistent injury issues.

As a result, McManus believes a new striker will be at the top of the list for van Bronckhorst and Ross Wilson in the January transfer window because an injury for Colak, who has 14 goals in 22 appearances this season, would be a major issue at Ibrox.
“I think Rangers will have to strengthen that department in January,” McManus told Ibrox News.
“Colak’s carried Rangers this season with his goals, he’s been the main man. But I think if he gets injured or anything like that, I can see them struggling because I don’t think the manager trusts Morelos.
“He plays Colak every week, Roofe gets injured a lot and [Fashion] Sakala is more of an impact sub or a wide man rather than a central striker.
“Rangers will look to strengthen that department in January, 100 per cent.”

Rangers are four points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, are in the semi-finals of the Premier Sports Cup and are out of Europe after a disastrous Champions League group stage campaign.
In other Rangers news, only one player can save van Bronckhorst from the sack – and he was ironically axed by the Dutchman this season.
