Michael Nicholson wants Celtic talks over Old Firm incident but can’t bring himself to name Rangers

Michael Nicholson refused to name Rangers at Celtic’s AGM on Friday as a fan asked about an incident that happened in an Old Firm game last season.

In April, Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart had a glass bottle thrown in his direction at Ibrox, delaying the start of the second half as smashed shards were picked up off the pitch by groundsmen.

Nicholson, Celtic’s Director of Legal and Football Affairs, said that there was no footage of the incident for anyone to be punished, while also taking a swipe at Rangers.

“I don’t know…I didn’t receive any update on how that got on the pitch. We were told there was no CCTV,” said Nicholson, as quoted by the Daily Record at 12:47pm.

“It’s a poor show but we’ll discuss that with the club in question privately and appropriately.”

Grow up

It’s pathetic, isn’t it?

Nicholson is a fully grown man and not someone on social media hiding behind the picture of the Celtic logo or their favourite player.

He’s actually an official at Parkhead and he cannot even bring himself to name Rangers Football Club.

Whether he actually physically cannot bring himself to do anything but ‘a Sevco’ or whether he’s scared to simply name us in front of fans who’d no doubt pick him apart for doing that, we don’t know.

But it just shows the sheer childishness that goes on on the other side of Glasgow.

As for that incident last season, it was bad.

If anyone can be found for throwing glass onto the pitch then they should be punished and be banned from Ibrox for life.

However, if there’s no CCTV footage not much can be done.

Rangers do need to up their game though and stamp out issues like this because it gives the club a very bad name.

In other Rangers news, Giovanni van Bronckhorst is frustrated with this player after what happened last week.
