Simon Jordan: Rangers could make additional money from sponsors 32Red after recent development

Simon Jordan believes that Rangers could have a clause in their contract with 32Red for additional windfall due to Champions League qualification.

Gers were not playing in Europe’s elite club competition when they signed the sponsorship deal, but after qualifying, the visibility of the brand will certainly increase.

The Champions League is telecasted in numerous countries and the fact that Rangers took on Liverpool will certainly add to the visibility of the logos and sponsors.

Rangers

Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan said, via Glasgow Evening Times, “You’ve got a major sponsor in 32Red that are on your shirt that will probably have a clause in the contract that triggers a bonus for qualifying for the Champions League because their brand will be emblazoned across a variety of places all around Europe.”

Some benefits

Gers did not enjoy the best of times in the Champions League and have the record of being the worst side in the group stages.

Despite that, they will have made a decent windfall which is more important than mere progression if it did not add to the club’s coffers.

Rangers were never contenders to win the trophy or even go past the group stages, so any wins would’ve been treated like a bonus.

That said, their performances were nowhere near good enough and Giovanni van Bronckhorst must take the blame for it all.

He did not get the best of his current crop of players and the Dutchman is on thin ice at the club with a few bad results possibly resulting in him losing his job.

Hopefully, he is backed by the club in January if they do decide to keep him on board, but regardless, a decision about it needs to be made sooner rather than later.

In other Rangers news, Nicola Sturgeon has been called out amid a worrying recent development at Ibrox and an unwanted statistic.
